Digital cameras can be classified into following categories based on their specifications:

Compact Digital Cameras
This type of cameras are small sized and easy to carry. Some of these are smaller than other compact cameras and are termed as Subcompacts or Ultra-compacts. These cameras as have small size so modern features and picture qualities are missing to great extent with them. The images formed by such cameras is stored as Lossy Compression. Compact cameras are more in casual use. In nearly every compact camera the photo is framed using the live preview. These cameras are capable of macro focusing but in cases they have the ability to zoom then the range is usually less than Bridge and DSLRs.

Professional Modular digital camera system
This type of digital camera includes professional equipment. These cameras are capable of capturing minor details which could be enlarged up to 35mm. PMDCS are usually used commercially. They can also be converted to film or digital by changing the rear part of the equipment. The commonly known brands for these cameras are Hasselblad and Mamiya are very expensive for common use.

Bridge Cameras
This type of cameras includes higher-end digital cameras which have physical resemblance with DSLRs. They are loaded with advanced features as DSLRs but have the compact casing like CDCs, including live preview and small sensor sizes. The modern features include Super Zoom Lenses lacking the reflex and mirror system. These cameras are capable of excellent image quality (with adequate lighting conditions). Many of such cameras can store image in RAW format and do also have option foe JPEG compression.

Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras
Digital single lens reflex cameras are the digital versions for single-lens reflex cameras (film). These cameras have a mirror and reflex system.

Line scan Camera Systems
These types of camera device have a line-scan image sensor chip and a focusing mechanism. These cameras are conveniently for capturing an image of a constant flow of the movement on industrial scale. These cameras use a single assortment of pixel sensors. Line-scan cameras are capable of capturing data at fast rate with high image resolutions.
The data from these cameras has frequency which is processed by a computer, which includes the collection of the single-dimensional line data and its conversion to two-dimensional image.

Digital Rangefinder
A range finder camera be it file or digital is fitted with a rangefinder, rangefinder is a device which helps the user to measure the distance and capture the pictures with sharp focus. The first time this range finding technology was applied to digital cameras in 2004 when the Epson R-D1 was introduced. The camera of this sort are capable of capturing two snaps at the same time for a single object, one which is unfocused while other being focused.
Some digital cameras are mistaken as rangefinder while actually they do not belong to this category and they use electro acoustic and other electronic technologies to measure distance.

Digital cameras are replacing the analogue cameras for a number of reasons. Some of the advantages of using digital photos and digital cameras are listed below:

Photos captured through the digital cameras don’t cost much, actually nothing. The photographers do not need to use that old method for the development and checking if the photos come out to be perfect.

The digital photos are stored in the erasable memory and are available for viewing any time and you can also be stored and copied with the digital media and if you like to print then printers are available for the best quality photo prints.

One of the greatest advantages of using digital cameras is instant feedback. The user is capable of viewing the shot he has just taken. This instant feedback allows the user to keep the desired photos and delete the unwanted shots. For this instant feedback digital cameras have feature of LCD screen which make the view available.

Thanks to the LCD screen feature, you don’t need to stick your eye to the viewfinder to capture a photo. This feature made easy capturing the photographs from various new angles. Now you don’t have to feel down about not able to capture the photo of your favorite movie star because he was surrounded by crowd, through your digital camera’s LCD screen you can capture shots over head.

Digital photos can be corrected using the photo correcting software, more you are also capable of inserting different effects in these digital photos. Some of the correcting abilities are built-in the digital cameras such as removing the red eye effect, contrast enhancements, brightness adjustments and more.

With your digital camera you are capable for changing modes. You can adjust the modes according to the environment. The indoor mode can be turned on for the pictures to be captured in your house, sunny mode is effective for the brighter shots, while the cloudy can be turned on to capture landscapes etc.

Digital photos have the advantage over the older as they will not lose their quality. They will remain exact today and after decades. You don’t have to worry about them turning yellow or they being worn and torn.

A digital camera doesn’t require film roll as they have light sensors to capture shots. This save the users from that tiring dropping and picking of films and developed photographs from the studios.

The digital cameras which are not much expensive do come with the resolution which helps you capture quite high quality shots.

Digital photos are far more fun than those conventional photos from the analogue cameras. You can enjoy mailing the captured pictures to your friends and family, burn them on the CD or DVD and like.

Nowadays these digital photos have found a new way of providing fun. They are printed on the shirts, coffee mugs and other objects.

Digital cameras and digital photos are real fun as they save time and assets while provide with the best of the quality where perfect shots are guaranteed.

Those were the old times when the photographers used the trial and error method to come up with the perfect photo. Nowadays, the focus has been moved to the digital way of photography. The photographers do not rely on the old techniques. Now the professional photographers are using digital SLRs rather than old SLRs.

Through Digital SLRs, photographers are able to concentrate with the great pictures and don’t have to spend their time with the developing to check if they have come up with the best results.
Digital SLR cameras like SLR cameras use lens and a mirror but the only difference among these is the use of light sensor chips and digital memory for the recording the image. In short we can say that the digital SLR is the computerized version of the conventional SLR (single Lens Reflex) camera.
Apart from these build up differences there are many functional differences among these models. The best part is these cameras come with a great many accessories. So those who are interested with using this digital version of SLR can also invest in memory cards and lenses for far better results.
Below are mentioned some of the tips for the Digital SLR owners to help them capture perfect images with high quality using the new skills of digital photography.

It is the usual practice to capture full body shots against background but the more appropriate way to capture better pictures is taking a shot from shoulders up or the upper body.

If the photographer find capturing the picture as described above he may also try taking the shot of the subject at one side. Zooming this picture will give you the subject appearing in the centre.

For perfect photos you need to know the laws of optics. They remain same for both digital and analogue cameras.

Do wear your sunglasses which act as the polarizer hence taking away the unnecessary reflections.

Sunglasses can also be used to increase the exposure of objects.

Make sure that the light is perpendicular, in case you are using polarizer, to the object.

Get In to the practice of changing the white balance settings for the shooting in different locations. Make sure you change the auto from cloudy while you shoot bright landscapes and outdoor portraits.

Turn off your flash mode if you are using your camera with sunny mode.

The best pictures captured are in the zoom in mode. Keep zooming in to emphasize a certain asset of the subject being captured.

Last but not the least. In order to perfect your photographing skills practice, keep practicing and practice photography.

I find it worth mentioning here for your assistance that the techniques in getting the perfect shots and photos have not changed. But the advancement of the technology from the analogue to digital has simply improved photo shooting by making the photo capturing easy for everyone.

Digital photography has gained much popularity these days. Everybody today has shifted their gaze from the analogue technology to the digital technology.
To get the high quality result you need to know some of the basics so you can handle the digital camera efficiently. Some of the terms used for digital photography which are used commonly are listed below;

Pixel- it is a term used for the minutest part of the digital photo. Hundreds and millions of the pixels combine to give you a digital image.

Resolution being the quality of pixels in the photo. The sharper the pixels of the image higher will be its resolution.

Mega Pixels-A photo needed to be of high quality have more mega pixels in it. So the photo of three mega pixels is better than one mega pixel image.

JPEG-The format for the saving of image in the camera is JPEG (joint photographic experts groups).

Memory Card-The store house in the cameras for the image storage is the memory card. These cards come in variety of the sizes and capacity. A memory card with the high storage capacity is more convenient, so go for one.

Dots per Inch (DPI) - this term is especially applicable to the computer monitors and printers. As compared to monitors the laser printers have more DPI resolution, so if you buy a laser printer with the specifications for higher DPI then rest assured you are going to enjoy the best quality.

LCD (liquid Crystal Display)-Digital cameras in market these days come with this feature. This feature helps you view the scene before you capture one and also after capturing you can show the photographs with your friends.

Once you are aware about the terms for the digital technology you need to know some of the fundamentals for handling the digital camera. Handling the camera rightly can help you generate high quality digital photographs. Some of the handling tips are mentioned below for the beginner’s guide;

Pay attention to the subject and work on the frame, don’t let the subject be the centre of the photo. Centering your subject to the centre will give you the dead centre image.

You can take great photographs by capturing them with the close-up as it adds creativity and enhance the photo.

To capture the best stills use a tripod, this will help you avoid the blurred and poorly taken photographs.

Best photographs are those captured creatively. Try being creative. Explore different exciting and exotic locations to carry on your activity.

Joining photography can help you a lot. They can transform you through their guidance in to the professional photographer. A whole lot of online classes are waiting for you to register, join them and have fun capturing quality and well-praised photos. It does take time to become a professional photographer but is a real fun.
You can spend your time mastering your skills, where as professional photography classes can aid you much, keep exploring and try new techniques.

Cameras from appearance don’t let one knows what is the difference between the functioning and working of the analogue or digital camera. Both of the types of the cameras, digital and film have great many differences among them.

Cameras from both categories have to perform same functions especially in letting in the sufficient light and focusing the gathered light. All of this gathering and focusing need special co-ordination among the functional parts, mentioned below are the difference both sort of camera exhibit.

• Shutter
The function of the shutter is to keep light from entering the camera and it replaces for just a thousandth of a second. It is maintained in such a way in the Analogue camera that it doesn’t take too long to over expose or too short to under expose the object. While some of the digital cameras don’t use shutters. While combining the digital and mechanical technology tends to come up with higher quality photos.

• Aperture
The aperture of an analogue camera helps the entrances of controlled light for the photo which is not over exposed. Digital cameras have mechanical openings to adjust the light.

• Lens
Lens operates for focusing the object through the refraction process. In analogue cameras the lens actually moves for the adjustment. Digital cameras can override the fixed focus for special shots.

• Film Speed
Film’s speed describes the sensitivity to light, the more the film sensitive the faster is the reaction as it comes in contact with light in analogue camera. Digital cameras use image sensor other then film.

All of these functions are fully automatic in the digital as well as analogue cameras.

• Recording light
Black and white film is coated with what is called an emulsion layer, which when exposed results in the chemical change of halide crystal. Which after passing through the developing and printing process transforms into, photograph. This way of capturing photos on a film is adopted by analogue cameras. In digital cameras the image sensor are made up of photo sites which turn the light entering in to the camera as digital information. This information is then processed by combining hues and intensities giving rise to specific color to each pixel.

• Creation of Image in the cameras
In the process of the film development from the Analogue cameras, is bathed in chemicals which convert it into pure silver. The past which had the least exposure to the light are transparent while those which are exposed to much light are dark and dense. This is the same for both black and white and colored films. The only exception with the colored film is the inclusion of dye couplers in the process of development. The film, from the analogue cameras, are “fixed” to prevent further chemical or energy reaction creating a negative. To print the photograph, very radiant light is passed through the negative on the photographic paper, which is covered with an emulsion layer which is similar in composition with the chemical on the photographic film. The negative image after this process becomes a photograph.
While in digital cameras the light is recorded electrically. Microchip inside the camera converts the digital reading from each sensor and combines it with the stored info. Camera assigns a particular pixel.

Are you up to buying a high quality camera? Why do not you go for SLR camera? Let us give you 10 reasons to buy a digital SLR camera.

Creative Control:
This being the most obvious pro of digital SLR cameras. SLR cameras have a massive amount of settings that just need to be adjusted according to user’s needs. Every feature of the camera needs a bit of adjusment to give you the best of the quality.

Superior Sensors:
The sensors used in the Digital SLRs are nearly have the similar dimensions as an ASP film negative (22.7 x 15.1) but the great difference of the sensor sizes among these cameras is spectacular. In DSLRs the sensor size is estimated to be 2/3″.

Less Noise:
The digital SLRs display less noise as compared to other cameras. With a typical advanced Digital SLR you are able to enjoy the lesser noise with the best of the photo quality at some of the highest ISO settings.

Accessories Galore:
Digital SLR cameras come with a great many accessories. They have lenses, filters, adapters, extension tubes, flashes, strobes, brackets and more. In short we can say that they are upgradeable. You can accessorise your DSLR with the general purpose lenses and high end lenses with finer class.

No Shutter holdup
Surely, you must feel it really irritated while you click the button of your camera and you have to stand still to let it capture the image. Using Digital SLR camera relives you from this shutter-capture delay. You must have times when the perfect scene to be captured was there and you missed it just because of the shutter holdup. So, after buying a DSLR you don’t have to miss the desired scene.

Instant Startup:
Most of the cameras from this group have instant startup time. Meaning! If you suddenly come across some exciting scene and your camera is switched off, you don’t have to feel down as your camera, DSLR has instant startup. So cheer up and capture the scene and save it for sharing with your friends.

High quality casing:
Digital SLR have high quality casings. The most expensive one with the highest eminence. Some of the in-expensive digital SLRs have a lot of plastic in their casings. Most of the classy cameras have metal bodies and rubberized grips. Some of them, expensive ones are assembled to be used in the harsh environment as well.

Viewfinder:
You don’t have the option to view the scence to be short on the camera’s LCD but through the viewfinder.

Ergonomics:
The DSLRs are larger in size and have molded grips which make them comfortable to be used for long periods. The cheaper ones are samller but the expensive ones are really comfy to be handled.

Price:
The DSLRs are available at affordable prices these days. Some of the DSLRs have the rates which are ceaper then other digital cameras.

A small accounting firm serves some 150 clients. Its office technology includes two PCs and a laptop computer, all running various accounting software packages

An external HP Colorado backup drive provides peace of mind and complements the firm’s archives of paper documents. The drive also automatically backs up the system and the CPAs’ data files, a big help in tax season.

Steve Carroll previously was in charge of data backup and storage at another accounting firm. “I came to understand backup procedures and developed some good habits,” he said. “It is like insurance for a business. It sure is good to have when you need it.”

Carroll now heads his own firm. He and two contract CPAs primarily assist with tax returns, and also complete financial statements and other financial-related documents. Clients range from large manufacturing and construction operations to small businesses such as veterinary and dental practices. Carroll’s primary need revolves around the storage of client tax files. The Internal Revenue Service and American Institute of Certified Public Accounting (AICPA) standards require the firm to keep copies of client tax returns for up to ten years. Carroll prefers to archive these files on tape to complement but not replace his hard copy storage. “I’m not comfortable going completely electronic just yet. Plus, I am concerned about retrieving data from an operating system or software applications that I didn’t use to create the work, and that may be obsolete ten years from now,” he said.

Automation is another need. Even though his backup habits are strong, Carroll admits it’s easy to relax about backup in the summer months when business slows. “An automated system will keep my backup in order,” he said. Even more important, backup automation brings Carroll relief and saves time during tax season. “Having to worry about one more thing during the critical time of tax season is really asking a lot, even if it is something I know is good for us,” he said. “Now I come in, replace a tape and let the drive do its job. And any time that I save during tax season is a big help.” Carroll investigated his backup options and found that the HP Colorado 14GB external drive met all his needs. The drive now backs up one of the desktops and will be the primary backup for his laptop soon. With the drive’s portability, he’ll be able to backup his employees’ work to tape as well, leaving one less potential for data loss.

With the HP Colorado 14GB’s automatic scheduler, Carroll just sets the days and times he wants the backup to run. Then he only has to make sure a tape is in the drive. When the backup is complete, a message on the screen tells him that everything worked properly. Carroll has experienced data scares in the past. “I’ve closed out a year on my accounting software too soon and I had to go to my backup to retrieve a previously saved version,” he explained. “I had a hard copy of the correct data, but I would have had to recreate all of the that information, which would have amounted to numerous hours of tedious work. Fortunately I’ve never had a hard drive crash, knock on wood. But I know how long it would take to reinstall the operating system, software and configurations. It would take at least a week to get back to the point you were before.” With the new HP drive, Carroll can back up all of the system files as well as his data files. “The capacity of the drive is a big bonus. I can save everything on just one tape. Plus, I can save a copy of my operating system. Years down the road, I should have no trouble reading data created in old applications.

“One thing I am seeing more and more in the Accounting industry, and similar industries, is the increased use of laptop computers,” noted Carroll. “It is easy and efficient for me to take my laptop to a client’s office and enter data or pull up information as we speak.” The HP Colorado 14GB is a great companion for portable computers, which frequently aren’t backed up as regularly as desktop PCs, especially those connected to networks. “I’ve read statistics about the high theft of laptops, and just jostling it around could cause problems,” continued Carroll. “So it is nice to know that I have the option to backup my files even when I am not in the office. “The thing I like best about the HP Colorado 14GB is that it simplifies the backup process. That is important to small business owners like me, who have seemingly endless other things to worry about. With this drive, there really isn’t any excuse for small businesses to put themselves in jeopardy without proper backup.”

Wherever possible, use automation to become more effective. For example, there are contact management products like ACT, GoldMine, Telemagicand other competitors. These products can be used to track follow-up phone calls, meetings, letters, sales potentials, and other key information. Other alternatives include integration into products like Microsoft Exchange via Outlookor higher end Customer Relationship Management (CRM) products like Siebel, SalesLogix, or Clientele. If you can get all people in your organization using a similar contact manager and keep all databases synchronized (or just share one database), you will find that you have much better customer information at your fingertips.

Simplifying your contact management is a reasonable goal, but is going to take a certain level of expertise. For example, you can have mobile people entering information in PDAand synchronize this information with contact managers like ACTor mail systems like Microsoft Outlook. The combination of Outlook and Exchange is Microsoft’s key strategy to integrate information into all sorts of other systems, including accounting systems. Your business management decision will be where your “master” data is located and how much authority you want to grant for making changes. This technology is working, but is not trivial to implement yet.
